Dr. Cynthia Layport

Meet Dr. Layport

Dr. Cindy Layport has been in private practice in Portland since 1990 when she purchased Dr. John Derbyshire's practice. She was raised in Coos Bay, Oregon and graduated from Marshfield High School and Stanford University. She received her DMD from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1987 and her Certificate in Periodontics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989. She is married and has a son and daughter. Her family enjoys skiing and whitewater rafting. Dr. Layport is an active participant in many dental organizations. She is a past president of the Washington County Dental Society, the Oregon Chapter of Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, Dental Aid for Children, Oregon Women Dentists, and the Oregon Society of Periodontists.

She was published in the July 1990 Journal of Periodontology with her graduate school paper entitled "Alveolar Bone Loss and Long-Term Supportive Care."


Meet the Staff


Elise, Renee and Marlene

Marlene has been in the dental field for over 20 years as a front office receptionist. Some may remember that she spent four of those years working in this very office - she is glad to be back. She has two grown children. She likes to read, take long walks, gardening and traveling.

Renee has been Dr. Layport's bookkeeper since 1994. She is married and enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Elise started her dental career in periodontics in 1996 working beside her mother at the front desk. She has also worked in general dentistry and prosthodontics. She is married to Tony and has three children. Andrew her oldest is enlisted in the US Marine Coprs. Ashley, her daughter is a newly licensed driver and Blake is her soon to be teenager. As a family they enjoy time spent on the river during the warmer months and at home playing games during the winter months. Elise is also very involved in her kids' activities like being a coach for soccer or just being the "Kool-Aid" mom.


Mehran, Sandra and Luan

Mehran graduated from PCC's Dental Hygiene Associate's degree program in 2007. He is a foreign-trained dentist. He earned his dental degree in 1995 in Iran and worked as dentist there for about four years before moving to Portland. He is very close to his family and joined them here in 2000. He has lots of interests: sports, the outdoors, reading, movies, as well as traveling and learning new languages.

Sandra is a 1980 graduate of the Portland Community College Dental Hygiene Program, completing her undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Marylhurst University. Sandra has worked part-time for Dr. Layport since 1993, and is an adjunt clinical faculty member at Pacific University's new School of Dental Health Science Dental Hygiene Program. She is completing post-graduate studies in dental hygience education (MSDH) through an online program at Idaho State University. Sandra and husband Paul have lived in the Garden Home area since 1982. Their son Seth has a passion for composing electronic music, and has been studying synthesis composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Luan received her Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1981 in Vietnam. She moved to Portland in 1992 and completed her dental hygiene degree in 1999, graduating with high honors. She is continuing to study and obtained her Limited Access Permit in 2002, which makes her eligible to work in nursing homes without the supervision of a dentist. She is now studying for her MBA at PSU. Luan is very excited to be working in a periodontal office. Her husband is a software engineer and her daughter is a senior at OSU. She enjoys working with patients and likes facing challenges. She loves her family and enjoys gardening with her husband in their acreage home.


Cathy

Cathy has been in the dental field for 24 years. She has worked as an oral surgery assistant for most of them. She has been married for 13 years and has two young boys, Justin and Josh. She enjoys being "Soccer mom" for her boys. She is a very energetic and outgoing person.
